Painting with Fabric Dyes - Part 4

The students painted over their pieces with thickened dyes...we'll have to wait until next week to see the outcome!

I finally figured out how to make a collage in the Picasa program...you just click on the box that says "Collage" - this was followed by a big "DUH" loud enough to stir all living things in this neighborhood...

The piece that looks like it's in 4 sections had just been discharged, using my favorite product of choice: cleanser with bleach - can't wait to see how these turned out...

Cake Decorating Class?

Nah, just two students playing in my "Painting with Fabric Dyes" class Thursday night at the art museum!















Print paste brushed on cotton, thickened Procion MX dyes dripped on. We can't wait to see what happens at next week's class. I decided to have them leave their pieces in the classroom, and because it's been sooooooo humid here, they may still be wet...

The Creative Soul and Journaling

Five incredible women! In the photos below, you'll see some of their work from today's class.
A little new age music, a little meditation, and thoughts on peacefulness, anger, femininity, illness, energy, depression, joy, and personal traits helped all of these already creative women begin their art journals. They stamped, did frottage, image transfers, glued, painted tyvek, and didn't seem to mind that teacher gave them Astrobright cardstock pages (it's getting a little gloomy here in Illinois, you know) to work with.

We got silly in class and dyed our hair -

 

Today's Photo Transfer class...

was great!!! The ladies learned how to make photo transfers using the acrylic gel medium process on toner copies (good quality paper IS important) - doing it again by adding a bit of Setacolor paint to the gel medium before brushing it on the images - adding a little color to images first with Prismacolor Art Sticks - and making beautiful, ethereal transfers using Lumiere and FolkArt metallic paints and inkjet tranparencies - check the photos below of the beautiful women, both in the transfers and the students themselves.....

Tonight I will be dyeing the silk roving for my "Sensational Silk Paper" workshop next Saturday, October 29 - THERE'S STILL ROOM FOR 2 MORE STUDENTS !!! Is it time to come out and play?
